Review: A slice of metal history, this ten song live set from Hellhammer in 1983 covers all the classics in addition to songs which Hellhammer later refined out of the mix. More like hardcore music than the popularly-available recordings from Hellhammer, these tracks are half lost genius and half confusion. The genesis of what became Celtic Frost in a combination of basic grinding riffing and metal song structure reveals the roots to early black metal. Through the unsteady playing, unfinished lyrics and occasional glitches in composition, the trademark sound can be heard as it forms.
