Amarok (No Colours) 72:31
2000 CD [BUY] $11
Review: Carefully melding subliminal rhythm with sweeping melodies progressing into nothingness, this fusion of ambient black metal ideals and minimalistic drone inverts time and space with focus on mood. Waves of power chords harmonize into resolutions forming a structure mirrored in self and nemesis throughout a song. Abrupt terminations interrupt the resonant cycle of post-Burzumic riff patterning and suspend the listener in a hazy flow of hooks and harmonies at once destroyed. Echoing throaty shrieks and simple doomy riffs make these easily listenable songs with an atmosphere of irresolvable melancholy. "Black Spell of Destruction" - a Burzum cover - and mesmerizing atmosphere finish this album of rough elements.

Production: Varying, raw but listenable.
