Urgehal
Massive Terrestrial Strike (No Colours) 36:45
1998 CD [BUY] $13
Review: Taking heed of later Darkthrone, Urgehal craft energetic black metal dark as listenability to suggest the ease with which evil creates sweetness in noise. Creeling powerchords flow through the synapses conveying a desire as energy expands into rhythm through new shapes of song. Hooks anchor verses and let chorus anthems fall. Vocals sicken. Fast melody collapsing into slower tonal motion sculpts worth platforms for structural innovation. Similar to "The Serpents Harvest" from the Darkthrone opus "Total Death," this album is slick and magnetic.

Production: Slightly muffled clean, nice mid-range.
